From 27 to 29 August 2019, the kick-off meeting for the TRIATLAS project was held in Bergen (Norway). The EU-funded research project aims to bridge gaps in our understanding of the status and future of South and Tropical Atlantic marine ecosystems. More than 60 participants of the 35 involved institutions and organizations from 14 countries and three continents attended the meeting, forming a multi-disciplinary group with an exciting mix of expertise.
Project coordinator is Noel Keenlyside from the University of Bergen, co-leading with Dr. Heino Fock of the Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries in Bremerhaven.
It was a stimulating meeting that laid a foundation for the work that will be carried out in the next four years. We got to know each other and our various sub-projects better. Via telephone onferences, we explored cooperation possibilities with related projects. We were able to make key decisions on the work plan, and work is now underway on the first milestones.
