Dr. Paul Kotterba received the award for his lecture on "Atlantic herring Clupea harengus within the coastal food web of shallow inshore waters" given during the ICES-PICES International Symposium on Drivers of Dynamics of Small Pelagic Fish Resources in Victoria, BC, Canada. There, nearly 300 marine and fishery biologist from around the world met in early March 2017 to discuss the importance, the state and future perspectives of the economically important stocks of small pelagic fishes.
The present delegation of the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries convinced with the presentation of their research on Baltic herring ecology and made important contacts with potential international collaborators in future research projects.
