Certificate "audit berufundfamilie"

The Thünen Institute has been awarded the "audit berufundfamilie" certificate since autumn 2021. The re-audit was conducted in December 2024. The quality seal of the non-profit German "berufundfamilie Service GmbH" confirms our claim to a family- and life-phase-conscious personnel policy.

The existing offers for our employees include flexible working hours, diverse part-time models, home office and mobile working. In addition, a parents' initiative at the Thünen campus in Braunschweig offers childcare in the kindergarden "Krümelkiste". Furthermore we cooperate with a company social counselling service.

Further specific projects will now be implemented until fall 2027. For example, we will improve support services and contact points to make them visible for all employees. We will raise awareness in leading positions for different family and life phases and make it easier to reconcile work and family life in leadership positions.

The “audit berufundfamilie” certificate is awarded for three years at a time. During this time, the practical implementation of the target agreements is reviewed annually. Around 1,800 institutions and universities across Europe have been awarded the “audit berufundfamilie” certificate.
