The WBAE is an interdisciplinary body and advises the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture on the development of its policy in these areas. The WBAE works on an honorary basis, is independent and prepares expert opinions and statements on topics chosen by the WBAEitself.
Prof. Dr. Peter Weingarten, Director of the Thünen Institute for Living Conditions in Rural Areas, was also reappointed.
