Phenology
The periodically recurring developments of trees over the course of the year, e.g. leaf emergence, leaf discoloration and leaf fall, are important aspects of the temporal dynamics in the forest ecosystem. Recording the sequence of these different development phases is phenology assessment. Shifts in the phenological phases give us indications of changes in the environmental conditions at the site and in the stand as well as of the corresponding adaptive behavior of the trees.
