The Thünen Institute of Rural Studies offers internships for the following courses of study:
- Agricultural Economics
- Sociology
- Economic and Social Geography
- Environmental and Sustainability Sciences
- Political Science
- Landscape and Spatial planning and
- neighbouring disciplines
Both voluntary and mandatory internships can be conducted. You are welcome to discuss which option is appropriate for you with Dr. Sylvia Keim-Klärner. She is our contact person for internships.
What you can expect:

- Possibility of writing an interesting thesis in applied research on rural areas or on land use and resource protection in Germany
What you will do:
- Supporting the team in the implementation of research projects
- Contributing ideas and working on your own tasks, a high degree of independence and creative development
- Supporting project-specific meetings and workshops
- Contributing to the development of policy-relevant research results
What you bring with you:
- Ongoing Master’s programme or advanced Bachelor’s programme in one of the above-mentioned disciplines
- Strong teamwork skills, good communication skills, solution-oriented thinking
- Independent and proactive way of working
- Fluent written and spoken German, knowledge of English is desirable
