After the opening of the event by Rostock's Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, the visitors were able to talk to the actors on a wide range of topics in marine technology.
The Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries was represented with the OTC Smart Fishing project. With posters, videos and camera Mathis Mahler explained to the interested visitors what artificial intelligence in trawl nets is all about and why it can improve not only fishing but also fisheries research.
Stefanie Haase, together with Greta Markfort from the Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW), explained in a keynote speech on "Career paths in science" how she came to marine biology and fisheries research.
