Intensive forest monitoring in Germany
Intensive forest monitoring (Level II) studies environmental influences and their effect on forest ecosystems. For this purpose, high-resolution measurements and periodic surveys are carried out on 68 plots distributed throughout Germany. The plots are operated by the forestry research institutes of the federal states. At the Thünen Institute, the data is collated, quality checked and forms the basis for national evaluations and reporting obligations.
Comprehensive information on the Level II program can be found on the Project website.
