The course will take place near Eberswalde (60 km from Berlin), Germany from 25.-27. September 2024.
The Thuenen Institute has launched the registration for a training course on soil sampling for a harmonized European forest soil monitoring.

Content of the course:
This workshop teaches the practical application of a soil sampling design and soil classification with a focus on carbon stock calculation for greenhouse gas reporting.
The contents will be disturbed and undisturbed soil sampling, humus type classification, sampling of the litter layer and soil classification following the WRB classification. Further, it is supposed to be an opportunity to exchange and network on European forest soil sampling and monitoring of forest soils.
Target group:
We want to reach people working in the LULUCF sector who are interested in establishing or intensifying their forest soil monitoring as well as soil experts working on forest soil monitoring.
