The thematic booklet “Rural areas" is the 343rd issue in the “Information on Political Education” series. Published by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the booklet has a print run of 420,00 copies and is often used as teaching material in schools. The authors wanted to reach young people in particular with this booklet and give them a realistic, differentiated picture of rural areas and their diversity - beyond the clichés between "Landlust" and "Landfrust".
Seven Thünen researchers were involved in the development of this issue. In addition to Jan Cornelius Peters and Christian Hundt, these were Peter Weingarten, Stefan Becker, Patrick Küpper, and Annett Steinführer from the Institute of Rural Studies and Anne Margarian from the Institute of Market Analysis. The 68-page booklet is available free of charge in print and as a PDF download at https://www.bpb.de/312730.
