The Magdeburg Chamber of Crafts hosted the Crafts Economists' Forum from October 29 to 30, 2024. As part of the event organized by ifh Göttingen, a range of current topics relevant to craft and small business policy were presented and discussed. This annual event is aimed at all members of the craft organization interested in economic questions regarding the development and future of the crafts sector.

Petrik Runst, representing the Thünen Institute, presented findings on the regional distribution of innovative and non-innovative craft enterprises. He emphasized that innovative craft enterprises are relatively more concentrated in rural areas—and particularly in structurally weak rural regions—than innovators from other economic sectors.
