The preliminary results suggest that the way companies innovate in rural and urban contexts differs from each other. While primarily scientifically driven research and development departments can be mainly found in urban companies, vocationally trained employees in rural companies tend to innovate incrementally. Both types exhibit distinct corporate development profiles that will be further investigated in the course of this research project.
