The seminar was held within the framework of a recent cooperation agreement between the University of Pereira and the Thünen Institute (HF) (MOU: Memorandum of Understanding). The seminar addressed the basics of wood anatomy and the wood species identification of Colombian commercial tree species, as well as ab explanation of technical terms in the context of wood analysis studies. The seminar also provided training in the use of databases and programs for computer-assisted wood species identification. University lecturers and students from the University of Pereira were among the approximately 30 seminar participants, as were representatives of the regional forestry authorities of the 32 different "Departamentos" in Colombia.
