The aim of the BegUWa research project was to develop a technique for the non-destructive inspection of the status of wooden components underwater, which can then be offered as a technical service. At the end of the project, the developed underwater drilling resistance measuring device could now be presented to the expert audience at the SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN. And even in practical use, as a diving container was available for demonstrations at the UNDERWATER TECHNOLOGY section of the trade fair initiated by DVS (Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. - German Welding Society). During live presentations of various non-destructive testing methods for subsea applications, drilling resistance measurement met with particular interest among visitors where port infrastructure is founded on wood.
