By April 1st, 2023, Prof. Dr. Christian Brischke took over the management of the work area 'Biological Durability of Wood' at the Thünen Institute for Wood Research in Hamburg-Bergedorf. The wood scientist, who has a doctorate and habilitation, had previously researched and taught at the Leibniz University in Hanover and the forestry faculty at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and is now returning to his original place of work. At the Thünen Institute, Christian Brischke is responsible for durability studies in the laboratory and in the field as well as for questions of wood protection and the service life planning of wooden structures. He also represents this field in European and national standardization committees as well as the 'International Research Group on Wood Protection'.
