The decline in consumption and production of graphic papers has the consequence that the influx of high-quality fiber material into waste paper recycling declined. With a suitable process, high-quality but inexpensive primary fibers could be obtained to reinforce the waste paper. The aim of the project is to develop a digestion process based on the use of straw for the production of a high-yield fiber material that can be used to improve the strength properties of packaging papers based on waste paper.
