Once a year, scientists from all over the world come together for the International Research Group on Wood Protection (IRG-WP) conference. This year, three colleagues from the Thünen Institute of Wood Research traveled to Knoxville (USA) to discuss their research in the field of wood protection. The current state of research from the KLIMAtiv project was presented and methods of phytosanitary treatment of roundwood were discussed. Prior to the conference, Gesa Weber had also received the Ron Cockcroft Award (RCA) for this contribution. In addition, the results of an international field trial with a total of 19 research partners were presented and the moisture behavior of wood in addition to results of a comparison of laboratory methods for determining the biological durability of wood were reported. Next year, the IRG-WP will meet in Yokohama, Japan.
