The Tagesschau24 program “Klimazeit” dealt with the topic of fumigation of logs with sulfuryl difluoride for export. Alternatives to this method were also discussed. For this purpose, an interview was conducted with Prof. Dr. Andreas Krause, who reports on the KLIMAtiv project. In particular, treating the wood with saturated steam can be an alternative to fumigation. The wood is heated and the insects are killed. Another alternative is to debark the logs prior to export.
