Research Software

We consider research software, i.e. computer programs developed within the framework of a research project, as “research data”. This means our support extends to aspects of sustainable and efficient software development and software publication. The service unit provides assistance in all areas of software engineering, from establishing a project management, conducting the requirements analysis and designing the architecture, to the actual implementation.

Software that has been used to generate scientific results should also be published in accordance with the FAIR principles in order to adhere to good scientific practice. We accompany the publication process and advise on suitable open source licenses, public Git repositories and the publication in journals that specialise in research software.
