Dr. Andreas Kempe will work on the project REHA - Regional Study Harz. The main focus here is to determine the influence of the forest on the quality and quantity of the water supply in a water catchment area and its correlation with the supply costs of the regional water suppliers.

Dr. Andreas Kempe previously worked as a research assistant in the "Forestry worldwide" working group at our institute on the "AFOB" project. Dr. Kempe studied mechanical engineering and completed his doctorate in biology at the Technical University of Dresden. After further qualification as a GIS specialist, Dr. Kempe worked at Beak Consultants GmbH in Freiberg in the field of remote sensing and geoinformatics from 2019 to 2022. The focus here was on satellite and drone-based hyperspectral analyses for mineral detection, as well as the monitoring of post-mining landscapes.
