German energy balances: Thünen Institute closes data gap

A recent analysis by Dr. Holger Weimar on wood energy consumption fills a significant gap in the German energy balances

On an annual basis the Working Group on Energy Balances compiles a comprehensive and detailed picture of energy consumption in Germany. However, for the sector of commercial and public the use of solid biomass services could only be provided incomplete so far.

Based on information gathered in the project wood resource monitoring the German energy balance could be supplemented now. This was done in close collaboration with the Working Group on Renewable Energy Statistics (AGEE-Stat). In future, AGEE-Stat will use the developed method also for providing the development of renewable energies in Germany.
