Mr. Mfuni is specialized in the analysis of land use dynamics (with a focus on above ground biomass [AGB] modelling) and their implications on livelihoods in the miombo woodlands.
The result of his stay are the conception and development of four studies with a focus on the biophysical properties of subtropical Miombo landscapes in Zambia.
The visit builds on the partnership between the Thünen Institute and CIFOR in the LaForeT project. The project analyzes drivers of changes in land use as well as deforestation and forest degradation in tropical landscapes.
