IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress in Freiburg

From 18th to 22nd of September 2017 took place in Freiburg, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), a congress with forest scientists from all over the world.

Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics was present in diverse sessions with 14 lectures and 3 posters. The session “Multifunctional tropical forest landscapes: finding solutions in science and practice” was organized by PD Dr. Sven Günter, who is the Head of Working Area “Forestry Worldwide”.

IUFRO, one of the oldest international scientific organizations worldwide, is a global network aiming at supporting cooperation in the field of forest sciences. Thünen Institute is a long-standing member of IUFRO. The union, established in 1892 in Eberswalde, brings together more than 15.000 scientists from more than 110 countries. Cooperation under the umbrella of IUFRO is on a voluntary basis.
