PD Dr. Sven Günter - new member of our Institute

Since May 2014, PD Dr. Sven Günter is our new head of department 'Sustainable Tropical Forest Management'.

After his studies of forest sciences in Munich, he earned his PhD in Forest Sciences at the University of Göttingen. Later PD Dr. Sven Günter finalised his habilitation in silviculture at the Technical University of Munich. He worked as a scientist in Bolivia and scientific co-ordinator of research projects in Ecuador. Before he joined us, he was Co-Director, Latin-American Chair of Protected Areas and Biological Corridors “Kenton Miller” at the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Centre (CATIE) in Costa Rica. Now he is responsible for our research projects on sustainable forest management in the tropics.
