Prince Asare is working on the project “CITIZEN-SDSS: Using Citizen Science approaches and Spatial Decision Support Systems to foster nature-based solutions to sustain and expand the remaining forest landscapes of the Philippines.”
As part of the project, he is applying participatory stakeholder elucidations, together with Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) and “soft-coupled” CLUMondo-InVEST modelling to simulate future land use change scenarios and their impact on various ecosystem services.
Prince Asare has an MSc. Degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from the Faculty ITC, University of Twente in the Netherlands. He has expert knowledge in GIS, remote sensing, spatial modelling, and participatory research approaches. His research thematic areas of interest encompass land use and environmental planning, nature-based solutions, forestry, and ecosystem services.
In his previous research, he focused on modelling the spatial relationship between land use changes and the incidence of floods. He also utilized spatial multi-criteria analysis in discovering the potential locations for nature-based solutions in upscaling flood mitigation and other ecosystem services. Furthermore, he delved into examining stakeholder viewpoints concerning the integration of nature-based solutions in spatial planning in Accra, Ghana.
Before joining the Institute, Prince Asare worked as a researcher with the Faculty ITC, University of Twente.
