Research trends: Tropical dry forests: The neglected research agenda?
An analysis of published articles reveals that the number of international scientific publications on tropical humid forests is 3.6 times higher as on tropical dry forests. Also the research topics differ. The authors suggest an international strategic research agenda for tropical dry forests.
Tropical dry forests, here examples from the Miombo formation in Zambia, have less tree species, basal area, tree heights, diameter and lower standing timber volume than tropical humid forests and face enormous pressure. At the same time they are home for 2 billion people.
