Resource monitoring for wood

New research project „Wood resource monitoring – material and energetic demand for wood” starts.

The central coordinating agency in the area of renewable resources in Germany, FNR, supports this joint research project within its funding focus „Sustainable Forest Management“. The general goal of the project aims at fully monitoring all areas of the sources and the uses of wood raw materials.

Project partners are the Thuenen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics with its Forest Products Markets division, the University of Hamburg and the company INFRO with Prof. Mantau as the coordinator of the project. The project duration is from December 2014 to November 2017.

In addition to the general goal stated above the categories of analysis within the wood resource monitoring will be complemented and optimized within this project. Furthermore the analysis concept of the wood resource monitoring will be advanced to a degree, where results can be generated annually on a continual basis.
