It is entitled "Functional interrelations of governance elements and their effects on tropical deforestation - combining qualitative and quantitative approaches". Forest Governance has been established as a widespread concept in tropical forest policy in recent years.
The dissertation analyzes it's different elements like among others participation, institutions, law enforcement and forest tenure. The results show a close interrelation of the various elements and a synchronous functioning as well as positive effects on reduced deforestation. Richard Fischer encourages a differentiated view and implementation of these different elements. This can strengthen the importance of forest governance without the risk of deteriorating the approach to a mere buzzword.
