WEHAM-Scenarios

Joint research project "Assessment of the sustainability of different forest management and timber use scenarios, with emphasis on climate protection and biodiversity conservation (WEHAM-Scenarios)".

© Markus Dög

The project is funded from the forest climate fund by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) via the project executing organization ptBLE.

The project partners are the Thünen Institute (Hamburg and Eberswalde), the University of Hamburg and the University for Sustainable Development; Applied Ecology and Zoology (Eberswalde).

The partners aim to develop forest management and wood use scenarios in consultation with stakeholders, to calculate these scenarios with the Forest Development and Timber Resource Modeling (WEHAM) and to conduct a sustainability assessment to compare scenario results, particularly focusing on climate change and biodiversity.
