XXV. IUFRO World Congress in Curitiba, Brasilien

With a delegation of seven scientists, the Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics presented studies from the working areas of close-to-nature forest management in the tropics, forest economics and from the research project "Landscape Forestry in the Tropics" (LaForeT).

The Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics participated with a total of nine presentations and organized three scientific sessions. The presentations depicted current results from various national and international studies, amongst others on causes of deforestation as well as solutions for afforestation and sustainable management of natural resources.

The sessions were devoted to the topics "Ecology, silviculture and management of tropical dry forests", "Benchmarking in forestry - Challenges and solutions for establishing benchmarking systems" and “Traditional, emerging and new forest products in bio-economy – advances and applications in modelling the market potentials and sectoral impacts”.
