The OECD Working Party on Rural Policy meets twice a year. At the meetings, representatives of OECD member states discuss with OECD staff how rural areas in OECD countries are performing in terms of various indicators, the challenges they face and the opportunities they have. The overarching goal is to develop and identify policy measures that will succeed in improving the development of rural areas and the well-being of the people living there.
As at previous meetings, Germany was represented by Jan Cornelius Peters at this year's spring meeting of the Working Party on Rural Policy. The current meeting dealt with social, economic and environmental aspects of rural well-being.
