Ineke Joormann received the "Award for the Best Contribution to the ÖGA Conference 2023" of the Austrian Society for Agricultural Economics (ÖGA) last week for her presentation "Biodiversity Promotion in the Context of the New CAP Funding Period - Decision-making Processes and Implementation by Farmers". The paper was jointly written by Ineke Joormann, Christine Krämer and Norbert Röder (all from the Thünen Institute of Rural Studies).
The authors investigated the evaluation and participation of farmers in instruments of the new CAP funding period. One result is that the Eco-schemes currently play a minor role in the plans of farmers. Due to the overall major changes in the course of the new funding period and the late provision of information about the Eco-schemes, the priority of many farmers was to fulfil obligatory requirements or to participate in already known measures. In addition, the range of Eco-schemes offered was often not considered suitable for their own farms.
