The Thünen Institute is again - together with the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) and the TTZ Bremerhaven - representative for „Science in Bremerhaven" at the trade fair "fish international". Visit us at the joint stand "Science & Innovation @Bremerhaven #SEAFOOD" in hall 5, stand H20. Together, we form a research cluster here in Bremerhaven, which conducts research along the entire "SEAFOOD" value chain and aims to bring innovations to companies - without competing with each other, but acting together.
Our Institute of Sea Fisheries will present our project "AKW" , where research is being conducted on the development of a novel crab peeling machine to improve the impact on the regional value chain of the North Sea shrimp (Crangon crangon). Our project team also intends to investigate the potential of using this new mechanical crab peeling technology for regional processing and marketing of the shrimps. Nowadays, shrimps ("crabs") caught at the North Sea coast are still mostly peeled by hand in Morocco.
We're looking forward talking to you about our research!
