The conference was held in the context of the annual working group meeting of the APST (Animal, Plant, Soil and Traces) of ENFSI. Representatives of important authorities and research institutes, including the FBI (USA), BKA/LKA (Germany), CITES authorities (Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and numerous other institutes dealing with forensic investigation methods, were among the approximately 120 participants. The Thünen Institute HF presented, among other things, the most modern methods of anatomical species identification of timbers and other plant parts from the field of state-of-the-art 3D microscopy as well as µ- and nano-CT analysis and other fields of work of the Thünen Competence Centre for Wood Origin.
