Previously he was working at the Institute of Wood Science of the University of Hamburg in the department of Wood Chemistry in the FACCE SURPLUS project "FLEXIBI" and conducted research on the valorization of agriculture, landscaping, agro-food industries and post-consumption plant biomass waste from peri-urban areas as feedstock for small-scale flexi biorefineries. He studied wood science at the University of Hamburg with a focus on the mechanical and chemical conversion of wood.
