Greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase worldwide, including from agriculture. The international research symposium on agricultural greenhouse gas mitigation, AgriGHG-2024, is dedicated to recent research work and the implementation of climate change mitigation measures in view of viable and sustainable solutions for low-emission agriculture. With 200 participants from over 40 countries from six continents, the conference is fully booked. However, there will be a livestream of the plenary sessions for all those who are unable to attend in-person. The link will be published on the AgriGHG-2024 website shortly before the event.

The symposium is organised by the Thünen Institute and hosted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). Partners are the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

Six keynote speeches will address major levers to reduce GHG emissions in agriculture worldwide. In addition, the programme includes 70 talks, 50 poster presentations, panel discussions, round tables and workshops. AgriGHG-2024 will foster international exchange on the implementation of climate mitigation measures and low-emission development strategies in agriculture, set new priorities and ideas for research cooperation and give new impetus to existing and emerging network activities. It is about identifying measures that can be successfully implemented to support a sustainable transformation in agriculture and our food system.
