- 1999 - 2008: Scientist at the Institute of Forest Economics of the former Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products (BFH)
- 2008 - 09/2013: Head of the Thünen Institute of Forest Economics
- 02/2011: Habilitation at the Georg-August-University Göttingen
- since 10/2013: Head of the Thünen Institute of Forestry
