Forestry in Germany
Our research team analyses the economic situation of forestry in German and its adaptation to changing legal regulations and economic and societal conditions.
We analyse key economic indicators using data from German Forest Accountancy Network of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and compare these to European partner countries.
We use simulation models to estimate the effects of legal regulations, such as nature conservation requirements and changes of site conditions on forest management. Due to the long time period between intended changes from forest management, their realisation and the economic consequences the use of simulation models is very important. With it the effects of changing legal, economic and societal frameworks shall be identified and analysed to support forest enterprises and effective policy development. Every year our team compiles the so-called Economic Accounts for Forestry and the Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting of Forests for Germany.
