The meeting, hosted by the University of the Ryukyus and the Japanese Forest Economic Society in cooperation with IUFRO Divisions 3.08.00 "Small-scale Forestry" and 9.06.00 "Forest law and environmental legislation," again offered participants from 19 different countries the opportunity for an analogous scientific exchange with nearly 60 presentations and posters. This year's conference focused on progress in small-scale private forestry beyond the pandemic and global climate change. From the Thünen Institute of Forestry, Johannes Stockmann participated in the event with the presentation "Forest Management in small-scale private Forests: Factors explaining the willingness to act in forestry - a German case study".
In the course of a broad range of excursions, the participants were also able to get an insight for example into nature conservation in urban areas at the Manko Waterbird & Wetland Center, sales markets of regional sawmill products at the sawmill of the Kunigami Forest Owners' Cooperative or the management of the World Heritage-listed Yambaru National Park.
