Background
The AGMEMOD Summer School aims to spread the understanding and use of the partial equilibrium model AGMEMOD across countries and researchers. AGMEMOD is developed and maintained by the AGMEMOD Consortium which consist of the core group in the Thünen Institute and in Wageningen Economic Research Institute as well as partners across Europe and beyond involved specifically in contributing to the own country model.
AGMEMOD is a scientific tool applied for outlook projections and to evaluate agricultural market developments caused by changes in agricultural policies, farming decisions and the environment. It is regularly applied for projections for the European Union on member state basis and contributes to the annual publication of the Medium-term European Agricultural Outlook and for national studies, e.g., in Germany and the Netherlands. Further, most recent studies were conducted by partners in, e.g., Ukraine, Italy, and the United Kingdom. For newcomers, the summer school is a first step to get involved with AGMEMOD and start actively contributing to the success of AGMEMOD.
In the summer school, you will learn how AGMEMOD is structured, how AGMEMOD can be applied, how to extend AGMEMOD to your needs (new country, new product, new policy, new data, new equations), and how you can contribute and profit from the AGMEMOD consortium by jointly working together.
Structure
The Summer School will start on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th with an introduction of the model to newcomers in the AGMEMOD consortium. The focus is set on basic principles for database building, model equation specification and technically running the model. Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th September the focus is set on new features of AGMEMOD which is addressed to newcomers as well as to persons who want to start working with AGMEMOD again and have missed developments in recent years. On Friday 17th September, a practical wrap-up exercise with AGMEMOD will be performed including data building, equation estimation, scenario building and result interpretation which each participant will be undertaking.
Therefore, is recommended for newcomers to attend the summer school from Monday to Friday and for refreshers from Wednesday to Friday.
