for research on international agri-climate mitigation measures and the evaluation of GHG tools as well as for scientific support of the Bilateral Cooperation Project (BKP) “An Alliance for the Climate: Dialogue on climate and agriculture between New Zealand and Germany”.

The BKP project “An Alliance for the Climate: Dialogue on Climate and Agriculture between New Zealand and Germany” is intended to promote the joint development of contributions to low-emission and climate-resilient agricultural and food systems. The project aims to intensify the exchange of experiences and cooperation between New Zealand and Germany in order to develop solutions for climate mitigation and climate adaptation in the area of ​​agricultural production systems. In particular, the project is intended to build on the existing close cooperation between the BMEL and the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) as part of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA).

Tasks:

  • analysis of existing tools for greenhouse gas accounting on farms worldwide
  • evaluation of the THG tools and creation of policy recommendations for the use and application of the tools
  • analysis of mitigation measures for reducing greenhouse gases in agriculture
  • supporting scientific exchange with New Zealand partners and other countries through various exchange formats such as webinars, science policy dialogues and collaboration with important international partners such as the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases, but also other European initiatives and networks
  • preparation of scientific publications and summary studies
  • organization, design and evaluation of international workshops and conferences
  • presentation of results at national and international conferences and participation in important events

Professional requirements profile:

  • at least a good degree from a university degree (M.Sc., Univ.-Dipl.) in the field of agricultural sciences, environmental sciences or comparable disciplines
  • good knowledge of agricultural and environmental policy instruments and quantitative analysis methods in the area of ​​agricultural science, and life cycle assessment desired
  • research experience at the interface between economics, technology and natural sciences desired, especially in an international context and with reference to agricultural climate protection

Personal requirements profile:

  • ability to swiftly analyse complex issues
  • ability to work in interdisciplinary and international teams and to coordinate these
  • written and oral communication skills to present issues to different audiences
  • very good written and spoken English and German language
  • willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally (project meetings, conferences, etc.)
